It was rumored earlier that the Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi is working on an Android Go device namely Xiaomi Redmi Go. However, Redmi is now independent from its parent company Xiaomi. So it can be it’s second device to be announced, as Redmi Note 7 is already announced.
Redmi Go will come with a 5-inch LCD display with an aspect ratio of 16:9 and a screen resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. It will be powered by Snapdragon 425 processor which is mostly for the entry-level phones. It is paired with Adreno 308 GPU and up to 1.4Ghz maximum speed and 4xARM Cortex A53 cores. Also it will pack a 3000mAh battery which seems just fine looking at those specs. The phone is said to come with 5V-1A charger out-of-the-box.
Please do not confuse Android Go with Android One project. They are two entirely different projects. Andorid One provides a pure vanilla android experience on high ended devices. Whereas Android Go targets low end devices with less featured hardware to provide a smooth experience.
There is no news yet on when the Redmi Go will be announced. But @Ishan Agarwal who first noticed the device online, suggests it would cost around 4-5K INR, roughly $70, which could make it one of the cheapest Android Go phones in the market.
