The Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 SoC was announced about a year ago. The 700 series is a slight step up from the mid-range 600 series, but not quite on the high-end 800 series level. We’ve seen it in a lot of devices from Nokia, Mi and other devices in the segment. Qualcomm has now announced the next chipset in the series: the Qualcomm Snapdragon 712. As it is clear from the model number bump, this is a small upgrade.

Snapdragon 712 is a slight improvement over the previous-generation chip. Similar to Snapdragon 710, it includes support for Qualcomm’s QuickCharge 4+ technology, claimed to charge a phone from 0 per cent to 50 per cent in just 15 minutes.

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 712 is a 10nm based chip with 64-bit architecture and 8x Kyro 360 CPU cores. Just like the Snapdragon 710, the Snapdragon 712 has the Adreno-616 GPU and Snapdragon X15 modem. Clock speed is one area where the Snapdragon 712 have a slight upgrade. It has a higher clock speed of 2.3GHz (compared to 2.2GHz of SoC 710). Charging speed is also improved with Quick Charge 4.0+.

The Snapdragon 712 mobile platform also lets you shoot 4K Ultra HD video so you can document every moment with less battery drain. Your footage will show amazing texture and sharp, colorful photos, even in low light,” Qualcomm claimed.

It will be exciting to see this SoC in devices soon. Is it going to be a Nokia device like Snapdragon 710 to feature a Snapdragon 712 first?
