Microsoft recently announced their new Xbox Scarlett Console at their E3 press conference.
The new Xbox will use a custom processor based on the AMD’s new 7nm Zen 2 architecture and Navi for graphics, promising the console to be 4 times more powerful than the Xbox One X. It will use GDDR6 memory, will have real-time hardware accelerated ray-tracing. The console will support frame rates of upto 120fps with 8k display capability, though it is unlikely we’ll be able to see 8k at 120 frames per second. It will also use a custom SSD which is supposed to give it more than 40 times performance over the current generation, not to anyone’s surprise given how SSDs vastly outperform their mechanical counterparts.
Xbox Scarlett is supposed to launch in Holiday 2020 along with the long awaited Halo Infinite. No pricing has been announced nor what the new console will look like. The new Xbox is set to compete directly with Sony’s upcoming Playstation with very similar specs which is launching around a similar time frame too.
