In the ever-expanding Information age, one thing that has become a lot valuable is the user’s data. Some of the service providers access your data with your consent of course, whereas some just try to steal it. Along with your data, A lot of sensitive information can also be at risk including personal information. One of the best ways to keep your information secure online is to have a unique and strong password for your account that cannot be easily guessed. But sometimes, in spite of you having a strong password, there can be situations when your account might get hacked. Therefore, Search Engine giant Google has come up with a solution to prevent this from happening.
Google has recently introduced a new Password Checkup Chrome extension, which helps you keep your password and username secure. When you sign in to any website, the new Password Checkup tool for Chrome will trigger a warning if you use a username and password that is used by one of the 4 billion credentials which are considered unsafe by Google.

“We built Password Checkup so that no one, including Google, can learn your account details.” said security and anti-abuse research scientist Kurt Thomas and developer tools for identity senior product manager Adam Dawes.
Google also said that it uses a technique called as Blinding to scan and match the password with Google’s Database of usernames and passwords without having the need to view them.
